G.F.C. Smillie Vaudeville Era Vignettes. Two vignettes executed by Smillie, one pencil signed at the bottom by Smillie identifying the subject as "Hazel Dawn" Murphy. Both vignettes are on 4x5 India pressed into a larger card, one partially completed the other fully finished. Included with the vignettes is an original publicity 8x10 photograph of Hazel Dawn that Smillie copied from to create the engraving. The photograph was made by Sarony of New York, a famous photographer whose career spanned five decades. The back of the photo identified Ms. Dawn as appearing in "The Century Girl" at Ziegfeld's Century Theater. Both vignettes are stamp dated July, 1917, the unfinished version on the 13th and the finished version the 16th. Est. 250up
