Description
G.F.C. Smillie Large Framed U.S. Grant Vignette. A finished example identical in size and production to the previous lot. It is signed in pencil at the bottom by the engraver. His signature is on the India paper and the flourish beneath it is on the backing card. The portrait, dated 1916 below Smillie's engraved name located at the bottom of Grant's coat, is a larger identical copy of the 1913 $50 Gold Certificate version. Handsomely framed in an obviously old cherry(?) wood frame. Large hand signed engravings from any of the BEP "Glory Days" engravers are very rare. Est. 500up
