Description

Attractive Eagle Vignette. Charles Skinner's engraving E PLURIBUS UNUM depicting the Federal Eagle clutching a shield, American flag, laurel branches below that title, with radiating sun rays and clouds in the background. Skinner's eagle appeared on the face of the early $20 and $100 Gold Certificates and on the back of the later $50 Gold Certificates. The engraving measures nearly three and one-fourth inches by two and one-half inches. Pencil notations on the card indicate the currency use of the image according to Friedberg designations. Both the vignette and card are in excellent condition.
