Description
Smillie Die Proof - Yellowstone Park Vignette.A sensational die sunk proof printed on India paper and mounted on die-sunk card stock. This untitled proof is of what is today called Yellowstone National Park. There is known usage of this vignette on checks of the First National Bank of Helena, MT circa 1866-1896. An exploding geyser is seen in the foreground while there are pastures and mountains in the background. Pinholes are around the periphery from where this vignette was kept pinned up.
