Check Signed by Calvin Coolidge Northampton, Massachusetts - Hampshire County National Bank $14.20 Jan. 11, 1913 Not Graded, roulette cancelled with usual markings.Printed on watermarked paper. Roulette cancelled "PAID 1 14 13." Check made to a W.D. Mandell. At left panel "Calvin Coolidge / Lawyer." Signed in black steel-tip fountain pen by Calvin Coolidge. W.D. Mandell was the Secretary of the Hampshire County Farm Bureau, an organization that produced a monthly publication for the benefits of its membership. At the time this check was written, Calvin Coolidge was a member of the Massachusetts Senate. He had opened his law practice in Northampton in 1898. The only recent example we have sold of one of his earlier Northampton checks was a PSA/DNA graded example that sold for $870 earlier this year in one of our Historical auctions.
