Description

Autographed Letter Signed by General William Tecumseh Sherman. Not graded.
Dated Mar. 14, 1890. Written from Sherman's apartment on the Upper West Side of New York City. Addressed to General James Grant Wilson. Wilson was a Colonel during the Civil War and was later promoted to the rank of Brevet Brigadier General by President Johnson in 1867. The letter states:
"My dear General:
I am very sorry that an engagement, with ladies, for this evening must deprive me of the pleasure of attending General Howard's lecture, an invitation to which I accepted conditionally. Wishing you a pleasant evening's entertainment I am,
Very sincerely yours
W.T. Sherman General."

There are a couple of faint pencilled notations on verso. This is some of the neatest handwriting your cataloger has witnessed.
