Description

Giori Press Jefferson Center Test Note ND circa 1950s Greyblack/Blank Rothberg RGJ5/0FMSsw+neU PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
The Jefferson Center test notes were printed in West Germany in the 1950s. The PMG label is incorrect on this fact. This is a much tougher Jefferson Giori that is without a printed back. Both serial numbers are 99984629. The Rothberg number is incorrect on the third party label. The correct Rothberg number for this Giori test note is RGJ5/0FMSsw+neU, which translates to, "RG=Rothberg, "J"=Jefferson, "5"=Greyblack, "/"=back, "0"=blank, "FMS"=Face Multiple Serials, "sw+ne"=positions of serial numbers, and "U"=unwatermarked. The only detailed information we have ever seen on the Rothberg numbering system is in the June 2002 Currency Dealer Newsletter. The Newman Numismatic Portal (https://nnp.wustl.edu) has a copy listed under the following: Library - Periodicals - C - Currency Dealer Newsletter - 2002. There is not a single RGJ5/0 note listed in Rothberg's Census for Gioris in the above publication.
