Description
Scarce Fr. 372 in Choice Very Fine 35
Fr. 372 $20 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice Very Fine 35.A very scarce Friedberg number that has not appeared at auction for over two years. This piece appears in the census as About Uncirculated, which is the grade it sold for three times in the late 1990's and early 2000's, and that is certainly the grade that the note appears to be in its current PMG encasement. While a couple of well hidden folds may well be present, PMG's assigned grade of Choice Very Fine 35 seems wildly disproportionate to the note as it lays in the holder. We will of course let our bidders have the final say here, as they, unlike the grading services, vote with their dollars, but if every Very Fine 35 the services churned out had the same appearance as this note, most collectors would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the Very Fines and the Crisp Uncirculateds.
