Description

Large Brown Seal 1890 $20

Fr. 372 $20 1890 Treasury Note Extremely Fine. A nice example of an always popular type, with the large brown seal and the ornate reverse design. The note is well margined and absolutely defect-free. This note features a portrait of John Marshall, who was the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835. His portrait is the only one in the entire Treasury Note series without a direct Civil War involvement, as all the other notes carry portraits of Generals, Admirals, or Lincoln Cabinet members.
