Superb Gem Fr. 367
Fr. 367 $10 1890 Treasury Note Superb Gem New. This Superb piece is the finest Fr. 367 that we can ever recall seeing. It's only two digits away from the Choice New example that we sold in May for $5500, but it's worlds away in quality. That note did not have the depth of original embossing that this piece has, and it was quite tight along the bottom margin. This note is simply spectacular. Fr. 367 is a deceptively scarce number. There are fewer than 20 known examples in all grades combined, contrasted with over 70 Fr. 366's and just shy of a hundred 368's. CAA's records show similar proportions: we've sold 23 Fr. 366's, six Fr. 367's and 42 Fr. 368's. This piece, which could easily prove to be the finest known, should handily realize . . .
