Description
PCGS Gem New 66PPQ 1890 Treasury Ace
Fr. 347 $1 1890 Treasury Note Courtesy Autograph PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.The courtesy autograph is of John Burke and it (almost) appears above Rosecrans' signature. It is extremely faded to the point where we are certain it will be invisible in both the catalog photograph and on the internet. A black light clearly identifies it as a John Burke signature. In any event, this note stands on its own as a high grade, low serial number (A114) 1890 Stanton ace. The note has all its perfect paper originality, super margins, and a wonderful, overall appearance. Track & Price indicates it has sold twice before and, lacking access to those catalogs, we are guessing the Burke autograph was simply missed. At the 2015 Memphis auction, the note realized over $17,000. The most recent 66PPQ to sell was in August of last year when one auctioned for $28,200, with an ordinary serial number. This note has an auction record of $17,000 and the next serial number A115 is in a PMG 66 EPQ holder and sold for over $28,000 in 2011.
