Serial Number N1A Fr. 236 $1 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS
Banknote Choice Unc 64.It truly is a fortuitous event when a Large Size Serial Number 1 Black Eagle is offered to the collecting public. This is the first such piece that we have been able to offer in just over ten years and it is a real beauty. Bearing the Speelman-White signature combination, this near-Gem example, bearing serial number N1A, features bright paper, ideal ink colors, and plenty of original embossing. Back in 2015, we auctioned Number 1 notes for both Fr. 234 and Fr. 235, in about the same grade as tonight's offering, for just shy of $20,000 each. The pretty Number 1 note in this lot should approach that same level. Being the top note from a cut sheet of four, numbered N1A-N4A, with each note offered individually in this auction could drive our bidding for this exciting offering even higher.
