Lovely Fr. 341 James Monroe Hundred
Fr. 341 $100 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.The latest Track & Price census shows an even two dozen Fr. 341 examples extant, with one quarter of that number residing in museums or other institutional holdings. Most of the remaining survivors have been the subject of repairs and restorations, including most of the recent examples to cross the auction block. This piece, fortunately, displays no sign whatever of any repairs or restorations, major or minor, save for a couple of closed pinholes, which truly affect nothing. The margins are even on both the front and back, and the colors are bright and sharp. This past November, we sold another PMG Very Fine 30 example, albeit with some serious repairs, for $52,800. This lovely example of a major type note rarity presents a great opportunity for the Large Size specialist to add a wonderful note to his or her holdings.
