Description

Fr. 341 $100 1880 Silver Certificate Choice Very Fine. Only about two dozen examples of this number are known, a half-dozen of which are permanently impounded. This note is typically graded for the group, with only one piece of the two dozen known grading CU and one other grading AU. The CU note is ex-Bebee and resides in the ANA museum. The AU was sold by us in 2001 at over $30,000. This note realized $12,925 when we last sold it in January of 1998. It's a handsome piece, with broad margins, excellent colors and no problems save for some very minor, professionally closed edge splits that are virtually undetectable. A very rare and handsome type, with infrequent market appearances.
