A Very Well Margined Black Back 1880 $50 Silver Certificate
Fr. 329 $50 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 25.Only 29 examples of this $50 Red Seal Edward Everett Silver Certificate appear in the Track & Price Census. We sold an identically graded example with the same, "Minor Repairs," comment in April 2018 for $22,800. This note is beautifully margined with a sharp vignette of a gentleman who was quite possibly the 19th century's greatest orator. Everett was a man of many hats, having represented the state of Massachusetts in Washington as well as being its governor and for a time president of Harvard University. A very nice example of a note that is difficult to acquire in any respectable grade.
