Rare 1880 Fifty Dollar Silver Certificate
Fr. 328 $50 1880 Silver Certificate Very Good-Fine. Under thirty examples of this note are known, and ten of them are permanently impounded in museum or government hands. This particular piece has been off the market for the last 25 years. It's quite good looking for its grade, with good margins, although the top margin is a bit irregular. There is a small stain on the back, but the note is otherwise problem free. CAA has sold only three examples of this number in our previous 27 sales, and each appearance has created quite a bit of bidding activity.
