Fr. 326 $50 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 20.An extremely rare Friedberg number with this example bumping up the Track & Price Census to a meager six serial numbers. One of those six is held permanently in the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank Collection. This is the first Fr. 326 that we have auctioned since January, 1996, and also the first to appear in any auction since 2013. There were only four known in January, 1996, and in the intervening 23 years, only two others have surfaced. This is one of the rarest items in this or any paper money auction and definitely a treasure to be pursued by the serious collector. This piece has been restored, but it still has a nice mid-grade appearance.
