Description

Very Rare Fr. 315 $20 Silver - Tied for the Finest Graded by PMG

Fr. 315 $20 1886 Silver Certificate PMG About Uncirculated 55.
Series 1886 $20 Silver Certificates are represented by only four Friedberg Numbers. The back design is one of the most attractive in United States currency, and with only about 150 combined survivors from all four signature combinations, there is little wonder why these elusive pieces command such great premiums. As the second rarest of the four numbers, only 28 survivors are known with this Large Brown Seal Rosecrans-Nebeker design, with this lovely piece tied for the finest graded by PMG. This offering, which made its last public appearance in a 2012 auction, is as pretty as any uncirculated piece could be with bold color and no discernable evidence of handling within its third party holder. Its closest competitor to sell at auction in recent years was a repaired PMG Extremely Fine 40 note that brought $26,400 in our last Central States auction.
