Colorful and Attractive 1886 Large Brown Seal Twenty Dollar Silver Certificate
Fr. 314 $20 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Very Fine 35.A reasonably scarce number with only 76 notes listed in Track & Price. Neither grading service has seen an Uncirculated example to this point, with the highest graded at PCGS an AU 50 and at PMG an AU 55. This PCGS VF 35 has not been assigned the Apparent grade, but they have mentioned "Small Repaired Edge Split at Top Center; Edges Trimmed." Nonetheless the note has a very nice overall appearance. One recent comp to appear at auction was a PMG 35 which sold in August 2013 for $18,800. This attractive note should pull up only slightly short of that number.
