Description
Elusive Triple Signature 1878 $20 Silver Certificate
Fr. 307 $20 1878 Silver Certificate PCGS Apparent Fine 15.Only the fourth example of this number that CAA has offered, with none on the market since 2007. Only sixteen examples are known, four of which are permanently impounded in museum or Federal Reserve Bank hands. No uncirculated specimens exist, and the high-grade pieces are two AU's and two EF's. This note has excellent color, small but decent margins all the way around, and no visible problems. It has a masterfully repaired, virtually undetectable tear, and some blank paper has been replaced in the bottom margin, again, undetectable to all but the most expert scrutiny. The note has the full visual impact and eye appeal of a Very Fine. Triple signature Twenties almost never reach the market, and this attractive example is likely to be hotly contested when it crosses the block tonight.
