Very Rare Fr. 305 Triple Signature Twenty Dollar Silver - Finest of Three Reported

Fr. 305 $20 1878 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.
A downright rare Triple Signature $20 Silver with the J.C. Hopper countersignature, this is one of just three pieces recorded for this Friedberg number. One of the other two is a repaired PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20 example that realized $58,750 in its last public appearance in a 2013 auction while the other is a PMG Choice Fine 15 note that has not been seen since it fetched $149,500 in a 2007 auction. This offering has had some slight trimming of its margins along with minor restoration but, otherwise, it is a very attractive piece with excellent color on both front and back. The Hopper hand-autographed signature is in a bold, deep brown and contrasts beautifully with the red and blue overprints. This colorful and extremely rare note is truly fit for the finest of collections.
