Fr. 288 $10 1880 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.A beautiful, perfectly natural example of this scarce 1880 Silver Certificate type. No PCGS 65PPQ notes have previously sold at auction, with a lone PMG 66 EPQ realizing $37,375.00 back in 2010. Fr. 288 is also a less-commonly-seen number, with just 78 pieces known, as compared to its type-mate, Fr. 289, with over 200 examples enumerated. This is an unmolested note with bright color, original surfaces, and lots of eye appeal, and it is part of the small run that has supplied Uncirculated examples to collectors for decades. Expect a heated battle here this evening to acquire this pleasing note.
