Description

Rare Fr. 284 Triple Signature Robert Morris Ten Dollar Silver - One of Four Reported

Fr. 284 $10 1878 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.
A downright rare Triple Signature $10 Silver with the J. C. Hopper countersignature, this is one of just four pieces recorded for this Friedberg number. One of the four is an impaired PMG Very Good 10 Net that sold for almost $40,000 at auction in 2013 while the other three pieces are just about the same grade, including this offering. This note is problem-free, with super margins, bold colors and not a hint of a problem, repair or restoration of any kind. The Hopper hand-autographed signature is in a bold, deep brown, and it contrasts beautifully with the red and blue overprints on this colorful and extremely rare note. It was last on the market in a 1992 auction where it realized $16,000, a healthy number for that era. More recently, a PCGS Extremely Fine 40 note, with repaired edge splits, sold for $240,000 at auction in 2018. If you desire, and can afford the best, this high-quality is definitely worth your serious consideration.
