Choice Uncirculated $5 Chief with Impressive Color
Fr. 281 $5 1899 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 63
EPQ.A portrait of Chief Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka graces the center of this delightful 1899 $5 Silver. On the face, well printed design details accompany bold, dark blue overprint color. On the back, vivid green ink colors complement deep serial number and Treasury Seal embossing. Also contributing to this example's Choice Uncirculated grade, as well as to the achievement of the EPQ designation, are brilliant white, completely original paper surfaces. This piece likely did not reach an even higher grade due to slightly uneven face to back registration and a tight top margin, but these flaws are minor and unimportant when taking into account this representative's wonderful eye appeal and desirability at this level.
