Fr. 279 $5 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Banknote Gem Unc 65
PPQ.A beautiful Chief, this piece has wonderful centering, deep embossing, and bold printing. G.F.C. Smillie engraved the original portrait of Chief T?at?óka Í?ya?ke or Running Antelope of the Hunkpapa Sioux, as well as engraving most of the back. The Fr. 279 is one of the scarcer Friedberg numbers pertaining to $5 Chiefs. Not counted in the Track & Price census, this note joins the exclusive club of Gem graded Chiefs. The most recent Fr. 279 at this grade level to cross the auction block was in April 2020 where it realized $5,760. A Chief note of this quality should command a healthy premium.
