Fr. 273 $5 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ.PCGS has graded 188 examples of this note, with this and two others having reached the 67PPQ level. As of yet, no 68 has been graded and it would not surprise us if none ever were, as this is a very challenging number to locate in truly high grade. PMG has graded over 200 of these with a single 67 and nothing higher. The note itself is simply wonderful, with terrific originality, spectacular color, and broad even margins. The last 67PPQ Fr. 273 to cross the auction block fetched over $30,000 in our January, 2015 FUN sale, and this piece, which is every bit its equal, could well equal or surpass that figure tonight.
