Fr. 268-70 Hessler 358 $5 ND (1896) Silver Certificate Central
Design Proof PCGS Banknote Gem Unc 66 PPQ.The Hessler Proof reference second edition has over 20 pages devoted to the Educational Series with eleven pages concentrating on the $5 Silver alone. The Central Design Proof in this lot of Electricity Presenting Light to the World is plated at the top of page 109. It has had the sky background added. Provenance of this vignette includes The Caine Collection, Harry Bass, Dennis Forgue, and Thomas F. Morris, Jr. The father of Morris, Thomas F. Morris, Sr., was the Chief of the Engraving Division at the BEP. He was one of the driving forces for implementing the Educational Series. Morris, Sr. died on January 18, 1898.
