Description

AU 1886 $5 Silver Dollar Back

Fr. 263 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PMG About Uncirculated 55.
An elusive grade for this series which depicts the earliest use of the motto "In God We Trust." The color is very vivid for this lightly handled note, which appears fully Choice New through the PMG holder. It also bears the pedigree on the holder of coming from the collection of Dr. Edward & Joanne Dauer, where it served as a plate example on page 173 of the Dauers' book American History as Seen Through Currency. Always popular and desirable, the eye appeal displayed by this Silver Dollar Back should bring a substantial premium, with this specimen fully equal to the similarly graded example which realized $7475 in our Central States auction.
