Description

One of Only Four Fr. 262 Notes Graded 67 EPQ

Fr. 262 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
A well preserved plate letter B Silver Dollar Back $5 with Superb Gem margins all the way around, this $5 Silver possesses paper originality that includes white paper and ideal inks. We also observe face to back registration that is spot on. This piece's first recorded offering was when Herb Melnick conducted the 1983 Memphis International Paper Money Show auction and its last recorded offering was in 2007. It is one of only four notes that are at the very apex of the PMG grading scale for Fr. 262. The last piece that we auctioned at this third party grade level was a PCGS 67PPQ that realized $39,600 in June 2021. The PMG graded example in this lot should do better. If you can afford and desire only the finest, this is absolutely a note that you should pursue.
