Handsome Fr. 244 Hancock $2
Fr. 244 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 64
EPQ.Friedberg 244 is the last of five Friedberg numbers for the Hancock $2 design and is the only number of that quintet to have a brown seal of any size. The handsome embossed example in this lot has face centering that is close to being right on the mark, while the back centering is shifted about 2mms too much to the left. We also observe excellent color on both sides along with three as-made pre-printing paper crinkles at upper left that terminate before or within the portrait curtain. As we study past results, we see that a PMG 64 without EPQ realized $5,760 in 2021. The 64 EPQ piece in this lot should exceed that amount.
