Description

Dapper Gem Hancock $2

Fr. 242 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66.
Commonly referred to as the "Hancock Deuce," this design features the portrait of Commanding General Winfield Scott Hancock. Three seal varieties are seen on the 1886 $2s, including this Large Red Seal variety which exudes color and bold printing. The paper is bright and attractive, and the design details are framed by full margins on all sides. The original paper wave and embossing also show clearly through the third party holder. This note was placed in its holder prior to the establishment of the "Exceptional Paper Quality" designation, attesting to the note's originality, though PMG would be more than happy to add this.
