Description

Wonderfully Inked Hancock Silver Deuce with Splendid Color

Fr. 242 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
A very well preserved plate A Hancock Deuce is featured in this lot. Balanced margins and a brilliant large red scalloped Treasury Seal complement fresh and entirely original paper surfaces, as well as vivid green back ink colors. The portrait of Winfield Scott Hancock, a Union general well known for his success in repelling Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg, is well printed at left. Fr. 242 examples in high grades, such as our current offering, are always met with enthusiastic bidding when they cross our auction block. We have not offered a PMG graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ representative since January 2025, and that piece brought $6,900.

Estimate: $6,000 - up.
