Superb Gem - Only Four Graded Higher
Fr. 242 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Superb Gem New
67PPQ.We entertained this Superb Gem Hancock Deuce for the first time in January 1996. At that time, serial number B6459409 was the first note of a cut sheet of four that we graded as Superb Gem New. Our current assessment of this plate letter A note is the same as it was 29 years ago when we inspected it without a third party holder. We see once again a spanking fresh original example with perfect centering within balanced margins to the naked eye. The last Fr. 242 that we auctioned in this third party grade was a PMG 67 EPQ example that realized $13,200 in May 2024. Our current offering should make a strong run at that figure.
