Fr. 226 Hessler 47 $1 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New
66PPQ.A Face Proof for the first Friedberg number for Black Eagles is in this lot. This possibly unique Hessler 47 without a plate letter can be found on page 118 of his second edition. It was printed on India paper that was cut down to the size of the note. Next, it was mounted on bonded paper within an album. Finally, the page in the album was neatly removed. We have now offered a grand total of two Black Eagle Proofs with the other example being a PCGS 63 Fr. 229a Hessler 51 that realized $15,275 in our August 2014 ANA auction. Our current offering should be received equally well.
