Fr. 226 $1 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.Last appearing with us in 2018 where it was described, "Certainly deserving of its 66PPQ grade, an argument could be made for an extra point. A very nice note in every respect. This is the first of the Black Eagles. It has the typical color anomaly seen with these notes. The serial numbers are printed in a much darker blue ink than the seal and the large 1 at the left. Although the difference is minor, this is a one note type, as only the first of the Friedberg 226s had "Series of 1899" above the serial number. Partway through the issue, Friedberg 226a was created, by moving the series date to below the serial number."
