Fr. 225 $1 1896 Silver Certificate Very Fine. This One Dollar Ed appears fully Extra Fine when viewed from the face, but one quarter of the back is soiled, apparently from a wallet. The history and value of this note is considerably enhanced by its Spanish American War reference written in the back margin, "Only One Dollar Bill in First U.S. Government War Pay $186.65 at Camp Thomas, GA, July 5th 1898."Auction Info
