Popular 1879 $10 Refunding Certificate

Fr. 214 $10 1879 Refunding Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
A circulating bond, this type was sold through post offices that was popular with speculators and national banks due to the interest that they accrued. Interest was stopped at $21.30 by an act of Congress in 1907. These "notes" with their unusual dimensions have always been popular. This is a well margined, clean example of this circulating bond that has three vertical folds and just a little more handling.
