Attractive Gem Fr. 96
Fr. 96 $10 1869 Legal Tender PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.This well-preserved plate letter C note has extra-wide top and bottom margins. The bottom margin is so wide that it retains a partial 16 plate number. It also certainly lives up to its Rainbow moniker with its attractive combination of red, blue, and green colors. This $10 Legal with serial number H7358727* comes from a run of notes in similar grades that has supplied many collectors with high-grade examples over the years. The most recent note from that run in the same third-party grade we have auctioned was serial number 7358679*. It graded PMG 65 EPQ and realized $17,400 in January 2024. One must remember that the solid star at the end of the serial number for this design does not signify a replacement note, but is a printer's embellishment character in order to mark the end of the serial number. This beautiful example is sure to make its new owner very happy.
