PCGS Very Choice New 64 Fr. 32 - One of Only Two Uncirculated Examples Graded
Fr. 32 $1 1880 Legal Tender PCGS Very Choice New 64.The more common of the two large brown seal blue serial number varieties, if 78 known can be considered common. Although Fr. 32 is far more common than Fr. 33 with 78 examples known as opposed to 35, exactly the opposite is true in high grade. PCGS has graded 17 Fr. 32s with only two Uncirculated pieces, this lone 64 and a single 66. For the much rarer Fr. 33, PCGS has graded only seven notes, but six of the seven are Uncirculated, including a 67, a 66, two 65s, and two 64s. The PMG results are almost identical...they have graded 15 of the rarer Fr. 33 with ten of those 15 Uncirculated. They have graded 29 Fr. 32s, with only two Uncirculated pieces, a 64 and a 66. This PCGS 64 Fr. 32 is a truly beautiful note that leads one to wonder why the grade was limited to a 64.
