Fr. 27 $1 1878 Legal Tender PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.A simply beautiful example, this early Legal Ace comes with boardwalk margins all around, perfect colors, and unbeatable eye appeal. It is also the variety with the blue anti-counterfeiting stain. This pretty note made its last public appearance in our September 1997 auction and is now once again available for one lucky bidder to enjoy. PMG has graded just two pieces a single point finer than this offering, neither of which has ever appeared at public sale. In fact, it has been over three years since another 66-graded note has crossed the auction block, that being another PMG 66 EPQ piece that brought $7,200 in 2021.
