Rare Series "E" 1875 Legal Tender PMG 35
Fr. 25 $1 1875 Legal Tender PMG Choice Very Fine 35."A truly rare Friedberg number, with only 29 examples of this Series 'E' Ace enumerated in the Track & Price census. This 35 is well into the top half of the census, with the majority of notes known grading from Good to low-end Very Fine. This piece has a very minor restoration, which PMG has noted, but there is no paper rebuilding or paint involved, and the note has the full appearance of the solid high-end VF it is. The most recent auction appearance of a similarly-graded Fr. 25 was the PCGS VF 35 which we sold for $4,887 in September of 2006." That was our description from the Spring 2008 Tom Flynn Collection. The Track & Price census has risen from 29 to 36. The grading services have seen a few more examples, but what we said above still basically applies. No Uncirculated example has been seen by either of the grading services. This note brought $9,200 when we last sold it in 2008 and we would expect considerably more this evening.
