Fr. 18 $1 1869 Legal Tender PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.Fresh, high grade notes from Series 1869 are a refreshing departure from notes of the surrounding series. The paper, which included far more cotton fibers than the preceeding 1860's issues has a different look, and is made bolder by the swath of anti-counterfeiting blue color. The Details are much more ornate, well balanced, and arranged in such a way that Series that follow it, don't have quite the "pop". This beautiful Gem Ace features that "pop", with excellent margins and bold colors. Surprisingly just two other notes in this grade or higher have been offered at auction in the last two years.
