Gem Unc 65 PPQ Rainbow Ace

Fr. 18 $1 1869 Legal Tender PCGS Banknote Gem Unc 65 PPQ.
A well preserved Gem Rainbow Ace with excellent blue, green, red, and black inks and natural paper wave that are all easily viewable through the third party holder. Margins are more than satisfactory for the grade on this plate letter D note that has a partial plate number 8 in the top margin at center. This piece comes from a run of $1 Rainbows that has supplied collectors with high grade examples for many years. In fact, the last Fr. 18 that we auctioned at this third party grade was a note graded PMG 65 EPQ. It was only 64 serial numbers removed from our current offering. It was also a plate letter D note with a partial plate number 8 at top center and it realized $19,800 in April 2020. That figure is the highest amount ever attained by a Gem 65 Fr. 18 at auction. Look for tonight's beauty to make a run, if not surpass, that earlier winning bid.
