Fr. 17a $1 1862 Legal Tender PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ. With over 400 examples reported to date, this is not a rare Friedberg number, but truly high grade pieces are almost unobtainable. In all of our sales to date we have sold only two PMG graded examples that were as nice as Choice Uncirculated 63 (one 63 and one 64) and one PCGS example that graded 63. This is the first PCGS Fr. 17a we have had to offer in Very Choice New 64 and it is a real winner, with an exceptionally vivid red overprint, margins that are clear of the design at all points, and a fresh appearance that is unusual on these early Legal Aces.Auction Info
