One of a Paltry Eight Available for Collectors
Fr. 155 $50 1880 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 25.One of the rarest Friedberg numbers for the Benjamin Franklin $50 Legal design with a Track & Price population of a paltry ten serial numbers. Two of that select club are held by the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and San Francisco, making a total of only eight for collectors to vie for. We also noticed that the population for Fr. 155 has only grown by two since 1997, with the last discovery being the attractive mid-grade note in this lot. The PMG back label reads split repair which is a sealed split that runs from the edge to the frame line at upper right. We auctioned a comment free PMG VF 20 Fr. 155 in May 2022 for $11,400 and believe that our current offering will hammer in that same range.
