Description

1880 $10 Legal Tender Note, Fr-110, Very Fine+. This so-called Jackass note (when the note is turned upside down, the eagle appears instead to be the head of a jackass) was presumably engraved by an engraver with Democratic Party sympathies. This is a less common Jackass number with the small red, scalloped Treasury seal. The edges of this well margined note show the slightest of handling. A single pinhole is in the area of Roscrans' signature. This note has very nice eye appeal and is a wonderful example of this type. A stern Daniel Webster overlooks the crisp paper for this note.
