Description

Fr. 210 $1,000 1861 Interest Bearing Note Partial Clipping Very Fine. This interesting item is a clipping, measuring approximately 2 1/2 inches square, from a genuine 1861 $1,000 Interest Bearing Note. There are no known specimens of this note other than a few proofs, and this is one of only two partial clippings that we have ever seen. The face of this note features Salmon Chase (perhaps this clipping was saved for this engraving), and the reverse has an ornate design stating the obligation due. While a complete example of one of these notes would certainly be much more impressive, this item is a "must have" for the collector who wants one of everything.
