Fr. 1214 $100 1882 Gold Certificate PCGS Very Fine 20.This Friedberg number is far less numerous in the census than Friedberg 1215. This $100 Gold Certificate features a portrait of Thomas Hart Benton (1782-1858) engraved by Charles Burt. Benton was a proponent of manifest destiny. Two of his nephews were generals during the Civil War. One served the Union, the other the Confederacy.
