Description

One of the Three Highest Graded $10 1914 Red Seal FRNs

Fr. 893b $10 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PCGS Banknote Superb Gem Unc 67 PPQ.
A gorgeous note, we have auctioned this piece twice before. The first time was in September, 1999 when we were able to examine it in the days prior to third party grading. We said then that it was well inked and bright with its full original embossing and full margins. The second time was in September, 2014 when we stressed this note's huge margins, ideal color, and top quality eye appeal. Today, all of those merits are still present, with the right serial number embossing displaying punch through characteristics. Track & Price lists only this note and two other serial numbers at this lofty major grading service level, with none higher. That is true, not only for Fr. 893b, but also for every one of the $10 Red Seal FRN Friedberg numbers combined. All three notes are/were graded PCGS 67PPQ and last appeared at auction during the years 2011-14. Winning prices among that trio during that time span were in the $21,850 to $38,187 range. With all that in mind, our experience tells us that the above smaller figure has a nice chance of being surpassed when our gavel falls on this well preserved piece.
