Description

Finest of Three Fr. 859b* Star Notes Reported

Fr. 859b* $5 1914 Federal Reserve Star Note PCGS New 62.
The Cleveland district $5 FRN in this lot is a deceptively scarce piece, with a grand total of just three examples recorded in the Track & Price Census. A wide margin exists between our current offering, which is the finest known example for this number, and the second highest graded representative, which has achieved the PMG VF 30 level. The note offered here showcases serial number embossing and natural paper wave at upper right. We have not auctioned a star example of this number previously, so we will estimate quite conservatively and let the bidding process determine this rarity's true value.
